“Graffiti has always fascinated me.
I grew up in the suburbs outside of the city, but I sang with the Philadelphia Boys Choir so most of my days were spent in the car with my dad. On these drives I'd watch the walls change color and shape over time as different writers took to the stage.
Graffiti, regardless of personal prejudice, is proof of human life.
With Pessoa (meaning Person) I intend to remind the viewer of the scale of our world. Every layer within comes directly from the hands of a real person. The paint tells us more about the emotion of the masses, than the features of the individual.
The desire to be heard surpasses all cultural boundaries.
We are all saying
"I was here."
Pessoa means Person.
Pessoa is a movement calling the individual's impact to attention.
Each swirl of color was once someone else's graffiti tag; Their signature.
Every layer of paint collected over the years sits unnoticed by the masses until now.
